    Literacy Week at AMSEN

Literacy Week was a week filled with buzzing words, exciting stories and lots of learning!
The week culminated in the grand first-ever AMSEN Spelling Bee, proudly hosted by our Senior classroom. From practising words in the days leading up to the competition, to the jitters and excitement on the big day, our learners gave it their very best!
With individual accommodations and support in place, every selected participant had the opportunity to shine, and we were delighted to celebrate their efforts with medals and certificates.
A huge well done to all our learners and a special thank you to our teachers for making literacy fun, meaningful and inclusive.
Here’s to continuing the love for literacy throughout the year — buzzing with new words, new stories and new possibilities!

  • MUHAS Internship Training

    MUHAS Internship Training

Rehabilitative support, such as Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy (OT), plays a vital role in supporting our learners at AMSEN. This week, we were delighted to see our MUHAS interns create a valuable platform for knowledge sharing with the AMSEN teaching team.

The interns shared practical, classroom-based strategies to support communication, sensory needs, participation and independence in everyday learning activities.

The session was not only an opportunity to share knowledge but also to encourage collaboration between our teachers and interns. Through open discussions and shared classroom experiences, the team explored practical ways to incorporate therapeutic strategies into the school environment and further support our learners’ development.

  • ICDL at AMSEN

    ICDL at AMSEN

AMSEN has embarked on its first-ever Digital Literacy Programme for our learners, marking an exciting step toward building practical skills for the future.

A selected group of senior learners are currently training for the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL), building skills in key areas including Computer and Online Essentials, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Digital literacy is an increasingly important skill as our learners prepare for greater independence, further learning and future opportunities in the world of work. With the guidance and support of our experienced ICDL trainer, Ms Gloria Nelson, we look forward to seeing our learners develop their confidence, competence and digital independence.

We hope this pilot programme will be the beginning of expanding digital learning opportunities to more learners across AMSEN, helping equip them with skills that will support their participation and independence in an increasingly digital world.

  • Individual Education Plan (IEP) Meetings

    Individual Education Plan (IEP) Meetings

Our Individualised Education Plan (IEP) meetings are an important part of each learner’s journey at AMSEN. While these meetings require a significant investment of time, they provide a valuable opportunity for parents and teachers to come together and focus on each learner’s individual needs and development.

It was wonderful to see our teachers and parents come together with a shared understanding of each learner’s strengths, needs and goals.

Through this collaborative approach, we can develop meaningful, individualised plans that guide our work throughout the year. We look forward to seeing these plans come to fruition through our learners’ progress, achievements and growing independence.

  • Parent Orientation

    Parent Orientation

AMSEN’s Parent Orientation Day was a wonderful opportunity for our new families to come together, take part in a roundtable discussion, learn key school information, meet the AMSEN team and familiarise themselves with our facilities.

It was lovely to see parents engage enthusiastically with our teachers, ask questions, and learn more about the opportunities available to their children at AMSEN.

We are delighted to welcome our new learners and their families to the AMSEN family and look forward to sharing a wonderful journey of learning, growth and discovery together!
