Our Literacy Workshops provided parents with practical guidance on supporting their children’s communication, language and early literacy development at home. The sessions explored age-appropriate strategies, including sharing stories, encouraging conversations, using songs and rhymes, and creating simple opportunities for children to develop their language and literacy skills through everyday play and interactions.
For FS2 and Reception, there was a particular focus on early reading, including Jolly Phonics, recognising and producing letter sounds, and developing children’s ability to blend sounds together to read simple words. Parents were introduced to practical ways of reinforcing phonics and reading skills at home, while continuing to nurture a love of books and stories.
Our Internet Safety Workshop encouraged parents to think about the digital experiences children are exposed to from an early age. The session explored practical considerations around screen time, age-appropriate content, parental guidance and creating healthy technology routines at home. Following the parent poll, the workshop was made available as a recorded session, giving families the flexibility to view it at a time that suited them.
